Since I was a child, I’ve collected African-American superhero action figures. My collection includes Black Panther, Luke Cage, Cyborg, Black Lightning, Storm, Black Vulcan, Nick Fury, Aqualad, and many others.
One of my favorite figures is Falcon, whom I first discovered by reading Captain America comic books.
I’m glad to see that the character is starting to show up in mainstream media.
Marvel published a Falcon graphic novel that follows the superhero, along with his trained falcon Redwing, as he battles to save his fellow Harlem residents from slumlords, evades Sentinels, and takes on the villain Electro.
DisneyXD included Falcon as a permanent member of the Avengers in the animated series Avengers Assemble.
This year, Falcon makes an appearance on the big screen in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The trailer features Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) soaring through the sky in his updated costume.
