I was looking through my closet for something to wear to an event when I discovered my white Barr III blazer. The last time I wore it was last summer when I attended a White Party in Miami. Since then, it has been collecting dust.
I really like this blazer and wanted to wear it, but I was a bit hesitant because of the fashion rule that says you can’t wear white after Labor Day. The more I thought about it, the more I was convinced to break the rule. I decided to free my blazer from the purgatory of winter storage and create a look that would make people at the even take notice.
My outfit consisted of a polka-dot Perry Ellis shirt, Kenneth Cole Turn Heads Ankle Boot, and dark wash slim fit jeans. I completed the look with a wool scarf.
Several people at the event gave me some approving nods. A few commented on my choice.
“You’re a brave man. I could never pull that off,” said one of the attendees.
“I don’t think I’m any braver than you are,” I replied. “I just know what looks good on me and when to break the rules.”
